TNM Files a Restraining Order to Halt Ballot Printing Over the TEXIT Petition
The movement asked a Travis County court to halt the printing of primary ballots and order the TEXIT question onto the ballot, the second in a series of legal actions over the party's rejection.
The Texas Nationalist Movement has filed for a temporary restraining order in Travis County District Court to halt the printing of primary ballots and to ask the court to place the TEXIT question on the ballot. The filing followed the Texas Supreme Court's rejection of the movement's emergency petition, which came with no explanation.
The district court still has the authority to rule on the facts and order the question onto the ballot. This is the second move in what the movement says will be a series of legal actions against the Republican Party of Texas and its chairman for wrongly removing the TEXIT question. The movement also sent an open records request to the Secretary of State to learn whether that office had coordinated with the party.
“Ballots should not be printed until the unlawful actions of the Texas GOP have been properly vetted by the courts,” said TNM President Daniel Miller. “We believe the courts will find those actions unlawful, and we expect the TEXIT question to be on the ballot this March.”
