Texas Nationalist Movement Submits More Than 139,000 Signatures for a Vote on Texas Independence

The TNM submitted more than 139,000 petition signatures to place a proposition on the 2024 Republican primary ballot asking Texans whether the state should reassert its status as an independent nation.

NEDERLAND, Texas

The Texas Nationalist Movement has submitted more than 139,000 petition signatures from registered Texas voters, well beyond the threshold required to place a proposition on the 2024 Republican primary ballot. The proposition asks Texans a single question: whether Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation.

The signatures were gathered from Texans across the state who want the right to weigh in directly on their own political future. The number collected is a measure of how far the question has traveled from the margins.

“The only people afraid of this question are the ones who already know the answer,” said Daniel Miller, President of the Texas Nationalist Movement. “Texans are not asking permission to have an opinion. They are asking for the chance to be heard.”

The movement called on the Republican Party of Texas to respect the signatures and let the voters decide.
