Texas Nationalist Movement Invites Catalonia to Open a Diplomatic Mission in Texas
TNM President Daniel Miller invited the government of Catalonia to open a diplomatic mission in Texas, a step toward Texas standing among the nations that seek self-determination.
The Texas Nationalist Movement has extended an invitation to the government of Catalonia to open a diplomatic mission in Texas. The invitation came in a letter from TNM President Daniel Miller to Artur Mas, President of the Catalan autonomous region.
Catalonia had recently announced a sharp increase in its foreign affairs budget and plans to open new missions around the world, adding to those it already maintained in Austria, Britain, France, Germany, and Italy. Its long contest with Madrid over independence closely echoes the effort underway in Texas.
“The invitation to the Catalan government is a natural step,” Miller said. “For Texas to fulfill the words of Sam Houston and stand among the nations, it means creating dialogue with other people, organizations, and governments that are seeking self-determination for their countries.”
In his letter, Miller congratulated Mas on giving people around the world the opportunity to connect with the culture of Catalonia and to engage with its desire for self-determination and independence.
